Ryan Gosling made his fourth appearance on “Saturday Night Live” on Saturday, joining the show as host ahead of the release of his new sci-fi movie “Project Hail Mary.”
But just as his monologue was starting to take off, Gosling was surprised to see an audience member sitting in front of him: Harry Styles, casually dressed and smiling.
“What are you doing here?” Gosling asked, exclaiming, “I wish someone had told me!”
Gosling went on to say of Project Hail Mary, “People say it’s like ET and Interstellar combined, which is crazy, because these are, oh my, two of the greatest movies of all time. It’s like saying, oh my god, it’s twice that.”
But as the camera continued to cut to Styles, Gosling repeatedly asked: “Sorry, why are we on Harry Styles?”
Gosling then sings Styles’ “Sign of the Times” with nearly every SNL cast member dressed as an alien, before launching into Barbie’s “I’m Just Ken.”
Styles will host the show and be the musical guest next week.
“Guys, are you here to help me?” Gosling asks cast members dressed in various silver alien costumes. “You look so beautiful, Kenan.”
“No, we just came to get a better look at Harry,” says Kenan Thompson.
Gosling first hosted “Saturday Night Live” in 2015, then again in 2017 and 2024, where he participated in a Beavis and Butthead skit and couldn’t stop laughing during the skit.
“Project Hail Mary” will be released on March 20th, co-starring Sandra Haller.
