It’s time to take a peek at Hogwarts.
On April 5, HBO will debut a special that will take viewers behind the scenes of the upcoming film adaptation of the Harry Potter series. “Finding Harry: Behind the Magic” introduces the making of Season 1, which is currently being filmed at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK.
A new trailer for the special shows several craftsmen and actors working on the Harry Potter set. A cameraman filmed Hogwarts students walking through the school and the woods, production designer Mara Lepere-Schroup designed small models and built the large-scale set, and McGongall actress Janet McTeer and Snape actor Paapa Essiedu described what it was like to see the set for the first time.
John Lithgow, who plays Dumbledore, said: “The Harry Potter story is this extraordinary phenomenon. To reimagine and bring the Harry Potter canon to life, we play out all the things that we know are going on behind the scenes but don’t see.”
“It’s truly a designer’s dream to be able to build on such a scale. We’re trying to capture the joy and playfulness of what it means to be a magical child,” says Leper Schroup. She then added, “It’s incredible to be able to play in such a large sandbox. We’re adding a level of world-building beyond what audiences are used to.”
The trailer ends with an emotional Lithgow saying, “You wait forever to do something that means so much to people.”
