All along, there was an invisible thread.
Kayla Nicole admitted that her seemingly questionable Halloween costume was tied to someone named Taylor, but it wasn’t Taylor Swift, the fiancé of her ex-boyfriend, Travis Kelsey.
The 34-year-old claimed to listeners of her “Pregame” podcast on Saturday that she recreated Toni Braxton’s look from her “He Wasn’t Man Enough” music video because of a “very specific” childhood memory.
“I had a best friend who was white. Her name was Taylor,” Nicole recalled. “And my mom didn’t play games or anything, so she was the only house I could go to as a kid.”
“What I specifically remember is riding home in the back of a rice truck with Taylor from private school in uniform and her mother playing this song,” she added.
That’s when Nicole had an “aha” moment.
She recalled thinking, “Wow, white people listen to black music too.”
Social media users slammed Nicole via X for mentioning her friend’s name, claiming that “some things are better left unsaid.”
Another speculated that the “Special Forces: The World’s Toughest Test” alum may have been using Swift’s first name as a keyword “to get engagement” online.
A third pointed out: “Even if she had a friend named Taylor, that little anecdote has nothing to do with it.”
The Swifties posted a photo of Nicole’s outfit via Instagram on Friday, noting that she clearly has a dig at Kelsea, 36, and Swift, 35.
“She’s an icon. She’s a legend. She’s @tonibraxton circa 2000,” Nicole captioned the upload.
However, many of Nicole’s followers praised the diss, claiming she “had the last laugh.”
Nicole and Kelsey dated on and off from 2017 to 2022.
The Kansas City Chiefs player signed Swift to a contract the following year and proposed to her in August 2025.
In October, he became a hot topic when he portrayed Nicole in shadow in the love song “Opalit” from Nicole’s latest album, “The Life of a Showgirl.”
The record’s third song featured the savage lyrics, “You couldn’t understand why you felt so alone/You were really in it, she was in your phone/And you were just a pose.”
Later, an old video resurfaced online showing Nicole and Kelsey arguing over phone usage, with Nicole begging her then-girlfriend to “get off her phone” during a date.
