What you need to know
Influencer Matt Newman, who goes by @mattloveshiar on TikTok, shared an easy hack to take your Halloween costume wig to the next level.
On October 18, the influencer shared a video of herself trying on a red wig for a demonstration. “Does your Halloween wig always look like S— when you take it out of the bag and put it on?” he began.
“This can be fixed,” he continued, pointing to the misshapen wig. Newman first advised anyone looking to transform their hair with a wig for Halloween to always remember to wear a wig cap.

“I know it’s Halloween, and this is not a professional effort. But if you just want your wig to be at least comfortable to wear at night, this is a good first step,” Newman continued.
“Take a dryer sheet and a hairbrush, place the dryer sheet over the hair, and start brushing out the layers,” he demonstrated, placing the dryer sheet in the groove of the hairbrush he had chosen.
Newman also advised that when smoothing synthetic wigs, “use the brush in the direction the curls are going, so you don’t go against the shape of the synthetic wig.”

He concluded the video by saying, “If you’re going to have a hard time making a Halloween costume, at least give your wig a little love, too.”
Newman captioned the post, which currently has around 190,000 likes, adding: “This synthetic Halloween wig is scary (and not in a good way) when you take it out of the bag, but with these super basic hair tips, you can prepare it in less than 5 minutes and look amazing! Hairtok never rests for Halloween, you know we’ve got hairstyle tips for every occasion!”
