Hailey Bieber has opened up about why her pregnancy with son Jack came as a surprise after doctors warned it could be difficult to conceive.
“I had a septum in my uterus, and my doctor (Thais Aliabadi) kept saying, ‘You need to look into this and be careful before you get pregnant, because it can be a problem,'” the Lorde founder said on Tuesday’s episode of the “She MD” podcast.
Bieber explained to co-host Mary Alice Haney and her doctor Aliabadi how she was told she needed a “minor surgery” before deciding to start a family with husband Justin Bieber.
“I thought, ‘Okay, I’m not thinking about getting pregnant right now, so I’ll cross the bridge when I get there.’ And then magically I got pregnant,” the businesswoman explained. “That was a surprise.”
Aliabadi recalled when Hailey, 29, told her the news: “She was like, ‘I’m pregnant!'” And I say, “No!”
The medical expert said he was worried about the makeup guru because she had a moderate nasal septum, which increased her risk of miscarriage to “25 to 40 per cent” and the chance of premature birth to 10 to 20 per cent.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, a uterine septum is when the uterus is “divided into two parts” rather than “one cavity or open space.”
“I’ll never forget when I said to her, ‘Well, there’s a risk in this,’ and she looked at me and said, ‘You know what? I have faith that everything will work out.’ And I looked at her and I thought, ‘I think so, too,'” Aliabadi said.
Hayley explained that as Jack grew, his septum started to widen. “Luckily, it all opened up and did what it needed to do.”
The internet personality announced that she and Justin, 32, are expecting their first child together with a photo from their vow renewal ceremony in May 2024.
She flaunted her bump while standing on a hill in Hawaii wearing a white lace Saint Laurent dress.
In August of the same year, the couple’s first child was born.

The “Welcome Home” and “Peaches” singer captioned a photo of his little one’s feet, revealing his name is Jack Bruce Bieber.
Justin and Hailey have avoided sharing their son’s face online, although they have shown glimpses of him.
The Grammys also adorablely promoted his latest album, “Swag,” with a photoshoot featuring Hailey with the toddler.
