“Hacking” star Hannah Einbinder confirmed on the Emmy’s red carpet on Sunday that the HBO Max Comedy series will end in the fifth season of the upcoming.
“You’ll feel that’s not true,” Einbinder said E! Host Heather McMahan. “I’ll be filming next week. I know last season is really bittersweet. But do you think that’s right?
When McMahan repeated the “lip-it” quote to Einbinder, the Emmy Award nominee supporting actress for comedy said:
Show creators Jen Stussky, Lucia Anielo and Paul W. Downs often said they saw “Hacking” as a five-season show, but HBO Max has not officially confirmed that the series will end after Season 5, which is due to debut after Season 5.
“We’re breaking up season 5 now, and we need to see how many episodes we need to get to where we know we’re going,” Downs said. “The final scene in the final episode has been in our minds since 2015, and we’re excited to get there. But it may take more episodes than we fit into the season. So the truth is that we don’t know.”
A spokesman for HBO did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
