Apple Martin has denied rumors on social media that she was expelled from school due to bullying.
“Hello! I didn’t want to reply, but this story is completely false and is getting out of hand,” she wrote in a comment, which she reshared to her Instagram Stories on Monday.
She went on to clarify that she had never been expelled from school specifically for “bullying.”
“I totally understand that people don’t like me and that’s okay! The internet is a place where people can share their opinions. But this rumor is completely untrue. I’m not that type of person and everyone close to me knows that ❤️”
“A quick message from me,” the 21-year-old Vanderbilt University student wrote above the screenshot. It’s unclear where she originally shared the comment.
The daughter of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, 48, and Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow, 53, has previously been the subject of bullying rumors after video footage surfaced of her appearing to try to disrupt the debuting band’s impromptu photo shoot during their Le Bal des Debutantes performance in Paris in December 2024.
She was also photographed appearing to roll her eyes as she entered the invite-only gala arm in arm with Count Leo Henckel von Donnersmarck.
However, the young woman featured in the video, Aliénor Loppin de Montmort, later defended Apple.
“[Apple]really was the nicest girl ever! She really doesn’t deserve an inch of what she’s getting,” she told People magazine in 2024.
A source close to Paltrow told the Daily Mail at the time: “Apple is more playful and fun and she’s really a total girls’ girl.”
They further claimed that Apple “never intended to steal the spotlight from anyone; that was never her intention” and that “characterizing her as a mean girl is deeply false.”
“She had a really great night. It was such an uplifting night for her and the other girls, so it’s a shame this will ruin it,” they explained.
Apple playfully mentioned the accusations in a TikTok video with friends at the time.
“I don’t understand why some people have problems with us. We are so happy,” the three friends said in a pre-recorded voiceover.
“We’re two of the funniest girls and we know each other like offline,” one friend chimed in. When the camera switched to an image of Eva Crocs, she first shared an Apple video during her social debut.
“I’m telling you, you couldn’t ask for a more caring, more charitable, more generous, kinder person…” the video continued.
