You’ll soon be able to own a piece of Gwyneth Paltrow’s archive.
The Hollywood actress has auctioned off parts of her iconic closet, including red carpet outfits, autographed photos, furniture and even Coldplay merchandise.
The auction is scheduled to begin on March 24th through the prestigious Julien’s Auctions, but you can already view the more than 500 lots that will make up the collection titled “Bold Luxury: Gwyneth Paltrow’s Style Dictionary and Archive Compilation,” with a portion of the proceeds going to World Central Kitchen at the end of the auction.
Paltrow is auctioning off classic Hermès Birkins, vintage designer dresses, Goop-branded items, as well as red carpet looks that fans may remember from decades ago.
One of her most famous pieces is the pink Ralph & Russo one-shoulder look she wore to the 2015 Oscars.
There’s also the ombre Versace dress she won at the 2010 Country Music Awards and Versace’s quirky 2003 color-blocked minidress, similar to the one featured in “13 Going on 30.”
And while her iconic Ralph Lauren dress from that year’s 1999 Academy Awards remains safely in her personal archives, she will be parting with the original illustration from the designer himself.
Among the items included are also relics of her past family history.
Lot #84 is a Jennifer Meyer pendant necklace with the initials A, C, and M representing her consciously separated family of Apple, Chris, and Moses Martin.
And similarly, you can bid on vintage Coldplay merchandise, including earmuffs and promotional photos of Martin.
Vogue Magazine interviewed Paltrow about her decision to sell some of her possessions, noting that it was prompted by a storage room fire and the sale of her Los Angeles home. “I have all this great stuff that’s not going anywhere. I wish we could have a big garage sale,” she said.
“What really appealed to me about this work is that I think there’s an energy to things,” Paltrow continued. “It’s great that those things live on. It’s great that they have value through different provenances and different owners.”
One of the first people to take an interest in the sentimental thing before the auction began must have been her daughter Apple.
The aspiring model recently opened up about her mother’s archives, saying, “My mom’s 20s wardrobe is my favorite in the whole world,” adding that she spent last winter break “trying on everything.”
“I get emotional thinking about what’s in the closet,” the 21-year-old concluded.
