Granger Smith has approached attempting suicide to “end the pain” of his 3-year-old son, River, in 2019.
Amber Smith, the wife of the country singer, details Granger’s “The Dark Knight of the Souls” in his upcoming memoir, “The Girl on the Bathroom Floor.”
According to an excerpt from people, Amber wrote, “Sweet and incredible husband… I put a 9mm cold Glock in my mouth.”
The 43-year-old cried while typing the story, telling readers:
“I hope I grab him, shake him and say, ‘You’re a good father! I love you! We have this! This is not the way!” ” she continued.
Granger, 46, did not tell his partner about his suicide moment for three years.
Prior to his attempt, the songwriter was partying with friends after the show and drank “more than he had since the river.”
“Fearing that this would bring all the emotions and pain back to the flood, he quickly grabbed a weed pen and hit. “But nothing has changed.”
She described as “the slideshow was kicked,” referring to “vision of river orientation in the pool.”
Amber said, “He was a fatherly failure and thrust into his conscience that he had dropped the river. In a moment of utter despair, he groped for the gun he had placed by his bed for safety on the road.”
“I cried to God,” followed by Granger’s “The vision suddenly stopped, the gun slid out of his hand, and he fell to the floor, asleep in a puddle of tears, and fully dressed on the bathroom floor of the bath.”
Granger then texted Amber about having a “bad night” and coming “face-to-face with Satan,” but did not reveal that he was “very close to pulling the trigger.”
Granger and Amber were also parents to their daughter London, now 13 years old, and son Lincoln, when River passed away in June 2019.
The couple received an IVF the following year and welcomed their son, Maverick (now 4 years old) in August 2021.
Amber’s memoir, “The Girl on the Bathroom Floor,” will hit the bookshelf on October 14th.
