Grandbot director Cole Walliser has denied claims that Jennifer Lopez was “rude” to him during filming at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards.
“I didn’t take it personally. I didn’t think it was disrespectful in that moment,” the Canadian filmmaker said in an Instagram video on Sunday, but acknowledged that “a few things were the impetus for this idea.”
“One, she’s just getting to work. The carpet was closed,” he explained. “She’s ready to go in. She knew what she was going to do. She got into position.”
Walliser said it was “just unfortunate” that Lopez, 56, happened to be “looking away” from her in the viral video.
“So, I’m talking to her, and she’s looking away, but she’s getting ready to move,” he recalled.
“At this point, I’m not thinking, ‘Hey, turn around and look,'” the content creator clarified. “I knew what she was doing.”
Walliser added that the “Selena” actress is simply preparing for her Grandbot moment.
“I knew she was getting ready. I knew it was late. We just got through it. I didn’t think it was disrespectful in that moment,” he insisted.
Last week, Walliser shared a video of Lopez’s Glambot on Instagram, which showed the “I’m Real” singer with her back to a director being told how to position herself.
When Walliser asked the “Hustlers” star if she had an idea for a move she wanted to do, she didn’t respond verbally, just turned around and showed him how she would pose.
“As always, it went well,” Walliser told Lopez after the match. The pop star, who dazzled in a see-through Jean-Louis Cherelle dress by Stephane Rolland, gave him a quick wave and continued down the red carpet with her team.
“Queen JLO!! She was walking on the carpet just before it was about to close (technically it might have been closed at that point) so I was glad I was able to stop her right away. No need to fool around. Just worm, balm, thank you, GLAM!” Walliser captioned the post.
Several fans flooded Walliser’s comments section, criticizing López’s attitude towards coach Grandbot.
“My favorite part is when she doesn’t look at you, talk to you, or smile at you,” one user wrote, while another asked, “Jesus Call, did Jlo say a word to you?”
“This doesn’t help her reputation for being rude lol,” a third netizen commented.
“I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t like this attitude 🙄 Skip her next time,” a fourth person wrote.
Page Six reached out to Lopez’s representatives for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.
