Amazon Prime Video’s live-action God of War series has cast three important supporting roles.
Variety reports that Alastair Duncan has been cast as Mimir, while Danny Woodburn and Geoff Gurka have been cast as brothers Bullock and Sindri, respectively. This role marks Duncan’s return to God of War, as he previously voiced Mimir in both the 2018 God of War game and its sequel, God of War Ragnarok.
They will co-star with previously announced actors Ryan Hurst as Kratos, Max Parker as Heimdall, Ólafur Dali Olafsson as Thor, and Mandy Patinkin as Odin. Both Duncan and Hearst are alumni of the “God of War” games, but Hearst provided the voice for Thor rather than Kratos.
Full descriptions of the newly added characters can be found below.
As previously reported, the series will feature stories from the two most recent God of War games. In the game, Kratos must raise his 10-year-old son Atreus while battling Norse gods. According to the logline, “Father and son Kratos and Atreus embark on a journey to scatter the ashes of his wife and mother Faye. Throughout their adventure, Kratos attempts to teach his son to be a better god, and Atreus attempts to teach his father how to be a better man.”
Two seasons of “God of War” have been ordered on Amazon, and pre-production is currently underway in Vancouver. Ronald D. Moore is the writer, executive producer, and showrunner of God of War, which is owned by Tall Ship Productions.
In addition to his work on the “God of War” games, Duncan also lent his voice to the “Lord of the Rings” games “Shadow of Mordor” and “Shadow of War” for the role of Celebrimbor. He is famous for voicing Alfred Pennyworth in the animated series The Batman and several subsequent animated films and games. His other on-screen credits include “Taggart,” “Split Second,” “Dead Man’s Walk” and “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.”
Woodburn is perhaps best known for playing Mickey Abbott on the seminal sitcom Seinfeld. His recent credits include shows such as “The Witcher,” “Billions,” “Willow” and “Bookie.” He has also appeared in films such as “Jingle All the Way,” “Death to Smoochie,” and “Watchmen.”
Gurka previously appeared as Gibson Praise on The X-Files and Charlie on Stargate SG1. Recent credits include “Laid,” “Van Helsing,” “The Magicians” and “The Irrational.”
Duncan is represented by Mitchell K. Stubbs & Associates. Gulka is repped by Universal Artists Management. Woodburn is repped by Prilack Company and International Artist Management.
Frederick E.O. Toy will direct the first two episodes of God of War. Tall Ship’s Marilu Davis will also serve as executive producer along with Corey Barlog, Naren Shankar, Matthew Graham, Asad Kizilbash, Jeff Ketchum, Hermen Hulst, Roy Lee, and Brad Van Aragon. Joe Menosky, Marc Bernardin, Tania Lottier and Ben McGinnis serve as co-executive producers on the series. The series is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios in association with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions. Tall Ship has an overall deal with Sony TV.
