Becca Tobin called Hilary Duff’s husband Matthew Koma a “loser” for appearing on Ashley Tisdale’s “toxic” mom group drama.
On Tuesday’s episode of the “Glee” alum’s podcast “Ladygang,” she commented on all the drama surrounding Tisdale in a viral essay for The Cut and slammed her former mom group’s alleged “mean girl” behavior. Fans quickly deduced from past social media photos that the mom group included Duff, Mandy Moore, Meghan Trainor, and more.
Although Tisdale did not name names, Koma hit back hard at Tisdale by posting a fake mock-up of himself on the cover of The Cut with the headline, “Mom group tells everything through dad’s eyes: When you’re the most self-centered tone-deaf person on the planet, other moms tend to shift focus to their actual toddlers.”
Ms. Tobin thought that the friction within the mothers’ group was simply a difference of opinion about child-rearing, but she harshly criticized Ms. Koma’s involvement.
“Now, let me tell you, I don’t think there are any losers…To me, there are no losers in this group. There aren’t any, except for Hilary Duff’s husband,” Tobin said.
“I think it’s so awful for my husband to jump in and say something so trivial, especially since Ashley didn’t name names,” she continued.
Ms. Tobin explained that she could have understood that Koma would be involved if Tisdale had called Duff directly, but Tisdale stressed that this was not the case.
“When a man penetrates me like this, it rubs me in a really nasty way. It’s just to get his attention,” she said.
“Ladygang” co-host Jack Vanek agreed, saying Koma is known for causing drama on social media.
“He always puts himself into things,” she said. “So it’s not surprising that he would do what he did in that situation, just like any normal husband would.”
Tobin further reinforced her negative opinion of Koma, accusing her of “attacking women.”
“I think that’s very lame,” she said. “I would be so angry at my husband whether or not we could get along with this person. We had a falling out…whatever happened. It’s like when she’s down, he’s down too.”
“I think it’s really awful and offensive for men to comment on things like this,” she continued. “What he said about her is offensive. I don’t like it at all.”
Duff, on the other hand, seems to be hitting all the headlines just fine. The actress and singer was all smiles in Los Angeles on Monday, making her first public appearance since the mom group drama.
The “Lizzie McGuire” alum was photographed taking a walk with her 1-year-old daughter Townes Meadow Bear.
In addition to Towns, Duff and Koma also have daughters Banks Violet Bear, 7, and Mae James Bear, 4.
Duff is also the mother of 13-year-old son Luca with ex-husband Mike Comrie.
