“Matlock” will have its own mini “Jane the Virgin” reunion in the season 2 finale. Gina Rodriguez is set to guest star in that episode, reuniting her with “Matlock” showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman.
Ullman was also the showrunner of “Jane the Virgin,” which aired for five seasons on The CW, with Rodriguez playing Jane Villanueva, a young virgin who accidentally becomes pregnant after being artificially inseminated.
“My heart is exploding with joy that Gina will be joining us for the Season 2 finale,” Ullman said in a statement. “She is pure magic and collaborating on Jane was a highlight of my life. It was a dream come true to have her in Matlock.”
Details of Rodriguez’s character in “Matlock” are being kept secret for now.
Rodriguez won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Musical or Comedy Series for Jane the Virgin, which aired from 2014 to 2019. Most recently, she appeared on ABC’s “Will Trent” Season 3 as Assistant District Attorney Marion Alba. On Netflix, he also appears in Robert Rodriguez’s “Spy Kids” reboot and the romantic comedy “Players.”

Marshall as Olympia, Jason Ritter as Julian, and Leah Lewis as Sarah.
