Aidan Nicks, Gigi and Bella Hadid’s secret half-sister, said her siblings have been “warm and generous” since they met in 2023.
“My sisters (along with the rest of my family) were warm and generous. They made space for me in ways they didn’t have to,” the fashion designer wrote in a new essay for The Cut magazine.
Knicks was born from his father Mohamed Hadid’s brief relationship with Terry Hatfield Dal more than 20 years ago.
The 77-year-old real estate developer has sons Bella, 29, Gigi, 30, and son Anwar, 26, with ex-wife Yolanda Hadid, and daughters Mariel, 45, and Alana, 40, with first wife Mary Butler.
Nicks, 23, said her half-brother Anwar “called my baby sister the first time we talked on the phone,” adding, “Bella calls me her twin.”
“My mother couldn’t even tell our voices apart the first time we spoke on the phone,” the aspiring influencer told the magazine.
Nix said the brothers helped her learn more about Palestinian traditions.
“Alana has sent me resources and inspired me to actively participate in the fight for Palestinian freedom,” she wrote.
“I saw Anwar’s movie ‘Walled Off.’ Gigi took me to my first Palestinian meal and taught me the names of different dishes,” Nicks added.
Additionally, after Nicks graduated from Parsons School of Design in New York, her supermodel sisters also helped her step into the world of fashion.
“Gigi introduced me to her friend Gabriella Karefa Johnson, whom I admired not only for her styling but also for her strong beliefs and values,” she wrote in an essay for the Cut.
“I started helping her when I was particularly busy. My first day on set was a Victoria’s Secret campaign. I worked 17 hours that day,” Nicks added.
“I was exhausted, but I had never felt so fulfilled in my life. I felt like I had finally found what I was meant to do.”
Nicks admitted that she “feels like a different person” because she doesn’t share her childhood with her siblings, even though her relationship with them is progressing well.
“We don’t have sleepovers, we don’t spend holidays together, we don’t borrow clothes, we don’t have inside jokes or stories,” she explained in the essay.
“They had a lifetime’s worth of memories and I felt like the odd person out,” Nix wrote.
In May, Gigi and Bella’s secret half-sister was revealed to be Nicks.
“More than 20 years ago, our father, while single, had a brief relationship that resulted in a pregnancy,” Gigi and Bella told the Daily Mail in a statement.
“Aidan was born and raised in Florida, growing up with the man he affectionately knew as his father until his sudden death at the age of 19,” the models added.
Gigi and Bella said Nicks discovered a “biological connection” to the cover girls after she “decided to undergo genetic testing out of curiosity.”
The trio “connected for the first time in late 2023,” and Bella and Gigi “embraced Aidan with open arms.”
Mohamed briefly dated Daru after divorcing Yolanda in 2001.
The Daily Mail reported that their relationship ended shortly before Ms Dalle discovered she was pregnant.
