The Future Film Coalition has named Jax DeLuca as the company’s new interim executive director. In this role, Deluca will lead the launch of FFC’s national membership, develop the group’s network and strategy, and help secure resources and protect public policy.
During his tenure at the National Endowment for the Arts, DeLuca oversaw more than $50 million in public investment in the arts through federal grant programs and spearheaded national initiatives such as the Independent Film & Media Arts Group. She previously served as executive director of the Squeaky Wheel Film & Media Arts Center and currently produces documentary films as a public interest fellow at the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics, and Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School.
“Independent film supports livelihoods across America, from artists to small businesses to industrial workers in a variety of skills and professions,” DeLuca said in a statement. “Together with the Future Film Coalition, we are building a movement that has been needed for a long time, bringing America’s independent film sector together to counter market imbalances, educate policymakers, and advocate for policies that foster entrepreneurship and serve the public interest. We are truly honored to be able to advance this coalition at such a critical time.”
FFC was created this year to unite independent film professionals and organizations to support efforts to ensure visibility, resources and public policy protection for the industry.
“We are excited to have Jax join this dynamic coalition. Jax’s leadership is based on deep field research and practical experience regarding the realities faced by those working independently in the film field,” FFC Board Chairman John Reese said in a statement. “Her ability to combine data, policy insight and creative vision makes her the ideal leader for FFC’s formative phase.”
