Frankie Muniz has shared a photo from the set of the upcoming Malcolm in the Middle revival, reuniting with co-stars Justin Barfield and Christopher Masterson.
“Even though I was told not to post yet, I remembered the theme song. I’m so excited for you all to see the new episodes and I miss my brother,” Muniz wrote on X.
The four-episode revival, titled “Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair,” after the opening lyrics of the theme song, is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in 2026. Muniz returns in the title role as the third of five sons in a dysfunctional suburban family, alongside Barfield and Masterson alongside older brothers Francis and Reese, respectively.
Other returning cast members include Bryan Cranston as Malcolm’s father Hal. Jane Kaczmarek plays the mother Lois. Craig Lamar Traylor plays his best friend Stevie Kenarvan. Gary Anthony Williams plays Stevie’s father Abe Kenarvan. Emmy Coligado plays Piama, Francis’ wife. David Anthony Higgins plays Lois’ colleague Craig Felsper.
Malcolm’s brother Dewey, previously played by Eric Per Sullivan, will now be played by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark. Anthony Timpano plays Jamie, who was the youngest brother in the original series. The character was only three years old by the end of the original series, played by James Rodriguez and Lucas Rodriguez. The revival also introduces a new youngest child, Kelly (Vaughan Murray), who is non-binary. Other new characters join Malcolm’s girlfriend, Tristan (Kiana Madeira), and his daughter, Leah (Keeley Kirsten).
