“Running Wild with Bear Grylls” will now be aired again on Fox.
Variety has exclusively learned that the broadcaster has picked up a new season of the survival skills reality show scheduled to air this spring. This will be the show’s first new season since 2023.
“‘Running Wild with Bear Grylls’ combines epic adventure with intimate, human storytelling, making it a perfect fit for Fox’s premium unscripted portfolio,” said Michael Thorne, president of Fox Television Networks. “Bear has a rare ability to push people outside their comfort zones in ways that are both visceral and emotionally revealing, and this new season raises the bar, from the breathtaking locations to the incredible guests who join us on an unforgettable journey.”
“Running Wild” originally began airing on NBC in 2014. After airing on NBC for four seasons, it moved to Nat Geo for four more seasons, the last two being branded as “Running Wild with Bear Grylls: The Challenge.”
The show follows Grylls and celebrity guests on a 48-hour journey through wild environments around the world. The official description for the season reads:
“Bear takes guests on unforgettable adventures in breathtaking wilderness, revealing never-before-seen sides of their favorite people.”This season, Bear Grylls leads cast members from the glacial wilderness of Norway to the Wale. Embark on a global adventure through some of the most rugged landscapes on Earth, all the way to the legendary Eryri Mountains. Your journey will take you through arctic rainforests, vast canyons, and brutal deserts.” Push participants to their limits, including freefalling from 11,000 feet, and take them on an adventure along the Irish Sea.
Stars appearing in the new season include Matthew McConaughey, Uma Thurman, Coleman Domingo, and more.
The series is produced by Propagate Content and The Natural Studios. The series will be executive produced by Everest Brand Group’s Ben Silverman, Howard T. Owens, Drew Buckley, Chris Grant, Grylls, Delbert Shoopman, Benjamin Simon, Derek Green, and Robert Vanover, who also serves as showrunner.
Fox’s current unscripted programming includes hit shows such as “The Masked Singer,” “Hell’s Kitchen,” “Lego Masters,” “MasterChef,” and “Fear Factor.” Fox’s primetime lineup also has a number of game shows, including “Name That Tune,” “Beat Shazam” and “The Floor.”
