Variety exclusively reports that Ethan Slater has signed a representation contract with Verve. Mr. Slater will continue to be represented by ATA Management, Jackoway Austin and Public Relations Jill Frizzo.
News of the deal was announced approximately two weeks before the premiere of Wicked: For Good, which opens in theaters on November 21st. Slater will reprise his role as Bokuku Woodsman in this film after playing the role in the blockbuster feature film “Wicked,” which was released in 2024.
“Wicked” grossed over $750 million worldwide, received rave reviews from critics, and won two Academy Awards for Best Costume Design and Best Production Design. It was also nominated for Best Picture, and stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande were nominated for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, respectively.
Slater is an excellent actor on both stage and film. He is best known for his stage work, playing the title role in the Broadway musical SpongeBob SquarePants, for which he was nominated for a Tony Award and won both the Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Actor in a Musical. His other notable stage appearances include “Spamalot” and the off-Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim’s “Assassins.” He will next appear in the off-Broadway play Marcel on the Train, which he co-wrote with Marshall Paile.
On screen, Slater is known for appearing on shows such as Amazon’s “Gen V,” CBS’ “Elsbeth,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Fosse/Verdon” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” He is also currently developing features inspired by the life of Buster Keaton.
