Figure skater Amber Glenn could not hold back tears after a fatal mistake left her 13th in the women’s figure skating short program at the 2026 Olympics.

Glenn, 26, was caught on camera breaking down emotionally after failing to complete a triple toe loop and being forced to pull out of Tuesday’s event.

Glenn’s routine to Madonna’s “Like A Prayer” got off to a good start. She managed to land the difficult triple axel, becoming one of only two women to complete the stunt, along with Japan’s Ami Nakai.

However, this move could not make up for the 0 points he scored due to his triple loop mistake. She scored 67.39 points, more than 10 points behind leader Nakai.

Glenn, the top gold medal contender and one-third of the U.S. “Blade Angels” trio, looked defeated as he slid off the ice.

After the skate, Glenn told coach Damon Allen, “I did it,” according to the Dallas Observer.

“It’s not over yet,” Allen replied.

Glenn is a first-time Olympian. She also won a gold medal in the team competition on February 8th.

As for the rest of the USA team, 20-year-old Alyssa Liu placed third in the competition with a score of 76.59, and 18-year-old Isabeau Levit placed eighth with a score of 70.84.

Japan’s Nakai and Kaori Sakamoto took first and second place with 78.71 points and 77.23 points, respectively.

All girls qualified for Thursday’s free skate program. Medals are then awarded.

Seeing his teammates become emotional, Liu expressed his support for Glenn and praised the skater’s strength.

“She’s been through so much, worked really hard, and overcome so much,” Liu said.

“I just want her to be happy. That’s all I really want. So I’ll see you later, don’t worry. We’ll do our best together.”
