FCC Chairman Brendan Carr once again shared that Donald Trump is calling for him to be fired from NBC after he was criticized by Seth Meyers on the host’s late-night show.
President Trump posted on Truth Social on Saturday: “NBC’s Seth Meyers is suffering from an incurable Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). Last night he went into an uncontrollable rage, likely due to the fact that his ‘show’ is a ratings disaster. Aside from everything else, Mr. Meyers has no talent whatsoever. NBC should fire him immediately!”
Meyers has repeatedly joked about Trump in monologues over the past week, making fun of his health care plan, government shutdown, 50-year mortgage, dinners with financial executives and the ongoing controversy over the Jeffrey Epstein file.
Immediately after Trump’s post, Carr reposted the president’s message to his X account.
Mr. Carr did not comment, but he publicly co-signed the president’s request for NBC to fire the late-night host after Mr. Kerr explicitly threatened to take action against ABC over Jimmy Kimmel’s comments after Charlie Kirk’s assassination in September.
During an appearance on Benny Johnson’s podcast on September 17, Carr suggested that the FCC had “remedies that we could consider.”
“We can do this the easy way or the hard way,” Kerr said. “These companies can, frankly, find a way to change their behavior and take action against Mr. Kimmel. If they don’t, the FCC will take further action down the road.”
Hours after Kerr’s remarks, the two major broadcast networks, Nexstar and Sinclair, canceled “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” ABC, as well as several affiliate groups, also canceled the broadcast and suspended Kimmel’s show indefinitely.
“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” was rebroadcast on September 23rd.
