The upcoming new entry in CBS’s “FBI” franchise, “CIA,” plays two major roles.
Variety learned that Nick Geoffs and Michael Michele are set to appear in the series opposite to the previously announced Reed Tom Ellis. The show will officially be featured in the series in April and will be released in the midseason on broadcast networks.
Gehlfuss stars in the series as Ellis’ FBI counterpart, while Michele plays the director in the CIA. Official Logline says the show is “focused on two unlikely partners.” Fast talk, a loose Cannon CIA case officer (Ellis) who breaks the rules, and a book that believes in the rule of law, Beth, a veteran, a smart FBI agent (Gehrphs). The difference may actually be their strength. ”
The casting keeps Gaelphus in Dickwolf’s universe. He previously starred as Dr. Will Halstead in “Chicago Med” and appeared on NBC as a character on the other “One Chicago” shows. Gehlfuss set out for “Chicago Med” in 2023, but will appear in the upcoming 11 seasons in the role of Guest Star. He is also known for his roles in shows like Shameless”, “Newsroom”, “Power”, “Interested”, “Royal Pain”.
Gehlfuss is represented by Gersh and MJ Management.
Michele’s recent credits include shows such as “Queen Sugar,” “Equalizer,” “Dynasty,” and “Star.” She also starred in shows such as “Holicide: Life on the Street” and in shows such as “Er” and “New York Undercover.” In the film, her notable roles include “How to Lose a Man in 10 Days”, “Dark Blue”, “Ali” and “New Jack City.”

“CIA” was originally intended to be released as a planted spinoff of the “FBI”, but instead delayed casting to CBS announce series orders for the show with plans for a fall launch. With further delays and showrunner changes, CBS has moved the show into the midseason.
“CIA” is an executive produced by Dick Wolf, Warren Leit, Erik LaSalle, Paul Cubbad, Nicole Perman, David Chasteen and Peter Jankowski. Late also acts as a showrunner. Universal TV is produced in conjunction with Wolf Entertainment and CBS Studios.
