The FBI has returned valuables stolen from Keanu Reeves’ home in a 2023 jewelry heist.
In a press release on Tuesday, Nov. 18, the FBI confirmed that the stolen items were returned to Reeves, 61. The station also shared that the Matrix star wrote a handwritten thank-you note to the agency that begins, “It is with deep gratitude and gratitude that I write you this letter.”
After thanking the agencies involved in the search for the missing items, Reeves concluded the letter by saying, “I truly appreciate your hard work, dedication, professionalism, and cooperation across borders. Thank you very much, Keanu.”
Chilean authorities confirmed on July 29 that they would hand over Reeves’ stolen items, including six valuable watches.
The watches also include an engraved Rolex Submariner worth at least $9,500. A police officer with Chile’s robbery investigation team told The Associated Press that the watch had a total value of $125,000.
Chilean prosecutors told reporters that the John Wick star identified the valuable watch as the same one stolen from his Los Angeles home in December 2023. CNN first reported that the watch was discovered a year later in December 2024 in eastern Santiago. At the time, authorities arrested one person in connection with the “violent robbery.”
“This case is a perfect example of the excellent international cooperation we enjoy with our Chilean counterparts and our local partners in the Los Angeles Police Department,” Akil Davis, deputy director in charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office, said in a press release.
“While robbery is a local crime in the United States, the FBI works with the Los Angeles Police Department and others, sharing information through the Grand Theft Task Force and other channels,” Davis continued in the statement. “These crimes impact celebrities and non-public figures alike, and the FBI is committed to assisting our local partners in combating this scourge that impacts the lives of innocent victims.”
The agency said in a statement that the theft was carried out by what it called the “South American Theft Group,” or “criminal organizations from South American countries that travel to the United States and other countries to commit theft.”
The FBI added that it is “actively investigating multiple SATG-related crimes in numerous jurisdictions across the United States with local partners.”

“This case highlights that today’s crimes know no borders and how important our international cooperation is to bring justice to victims here in Los Angeles,” Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell said in an FBI press release.
“Thanks to the excellent cooperation of the Chilean Investigative Police, the FBI, and our nation’s detectives, the recovery of these stolen items sends a strong message that organized theft groups will be tracked wherever they operate,” McDonnell continued. “I am proud of the work our team has done in collaboration with our federal and international partners to hold these criminal networks accountable.”
