Fangoria has announced that the 2025 Chainsaw Awards will premiere at Shudder on Sunday, October 19th at 9pm.
The fan-driven awards show recognizes the best achievements of the horror genre, spanning film, television and gaming. Ryan Coogler (“The Sinner”), Ernest Dickerson (“The Story from the Basement: The Devil’s Knight”), and David Howard Thornton (“The Terrier”) are among the presenters on stage at this year’s ceremony, while heavy metal band Gwaal presents the best kills. Additional presenters include Shannon Purser, Felissa Rose, Tiffany Shepis, Bill Moseley, Jeffrey Reddick, Peaches Christ, and Reese Feldman. Debbie Locon (“Flesh of Solitary”) narrates the show.
“Sinner” and “Material” led the 2025 nominations with 10 nods. The two films compete in the same category for Best Wide Release, Best Cinematography, Best Score, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Costume Design, Best Lead and Support Performance.
Other candidates include “Nosferatu,” “Strangedarling,” “Cuckoo,” “Ugly Stepsister,” “28 Years Later,” and “Longlugs.”
It is the nomination agency of over 150 industry tastemakers, creators and experts who selected candidates this year, with nearly 1 million fans voting to determine the winner. The candidates consist of releases from July 2024 to June 2025.
The Fangoria 2025 Chainsaw Awards are written and directed by Michael Varrati. Executive producers are Taraan Sley and Abhigeel, with Amen Agaian, Firnobill Jr., Michael Barati and Rebekah McKendry being the producers.
