Eva Mendes gives a glimpse into life in England
The actress, 51, who has daughters Esmeralda, 11, and Amada, nine, with Ryan Gosling, posted a video on Instagram on Wednesday of herself walking in her garden alongside the family’s two dogs.
“When I’m testing my health, I’m reminded of how stupid it is to think about the important things in life.
Lucho and Magic are alive,” wrote Mendes, who wore a light blue sweater and matching skirt.
Days earlier, fans had caught a glimpse of her and Gosling emerging from the front door of their red brick home.
In the video, Mendes was deciding whether to wear his own jacket or the “Barbie” star’s jacket.
She captioned the post, “Baby, it’s cold outside. A shed or my man jacket?”
Mendes and Gosling, 45, recently moved across the pond while the “Fall Guys” actor was filming the 2027 “Star Wars” movie “Starfighter.”
Gosling and Mendes first met in 2011 while starring in the crime thriller film The Place Beyond the Pines.
Since then, the two have kept their relationship hidden from the public.
“I don’t talk about Ryan or the amazing things he does as a father because I keep that part private,” Mendes said in a 2020 social media post. “I feel it’s best to continue to disclose what I’m happy with, but not involve him or my children too much.
“It’s not about being creepy or weird, it’s just about being private in public. Does that make sense? I hope so, because this is my honest answer.”
Two years later, in 2022, Mendes and Gosling sparked marriage rumors after the “Training Day” actress was spotted getting a tattoo that included the “La La Land” star’s last name.
Despite not acknowledging the marriage, Gosling devoured his other half while speaking to EXTRA in 2024.
“She’s with the girls, and when she’s at work, I’m home with the girls. I couldn’t be here without her,” he said in April of that year. “She truly has become the best acting coach I’ve ever had. I can’t tell you how much she’s helped me.”
Although Mendes helps her partner with her acting skills, she herself will never step back in front of the screen.
She took a break from acting more than 10 years ago to raise her daughter.
“I don’t know,” Mendes confessed on Good Morning America in 2024. “I don’t know. If there’s – you know – an interesting role.”
“I left…10 years ago, at a time when I felt like I had done it,” she continued. “I just worked with Ryan Gosling. He’s like the best guy. And I was so — I don’t know — working with him and what we created together was such a high point in my career that I was like, ‘This is a good time to quit Seinfeld and walk away.'”
“So who knows?” Mendes quipped.
Her last film was in 2014’s Lost River, written and directed by Gosling.
Although Mendez is proud of her success, her children don’t know about their mother’s catalogue.
In 2024, she revealed that Esmeralda and Amada have never seen any of her movies.
“They don’t care,” Mendes said during an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” at the time. “This was about a year ago. I tried to show them a scene from ‘Hitch’ that I’m actually proud of because I’m scared of deep, dark water. I had to do this physical comedy stunt on the Hudson (river) and it was so scary. So that day I faced my fear, but I did this stunt, and I was proud of it.”
“One time, one of my daughters was scared, so I thought, ‘Oh, here’s my chance to show off,'” she explained. “I played this song for them and I thought, ‘This is a mom facing her fear.'”
However, the girls were “not at all impressed” after seeing a clip of Mendes and Will Smith’s 2005 film.
“They were like, ‘Okay, okay, mom, can we come outside?'” she recalled. “They didn’t care!”
