The cast of ‘Euphoria’ is paying tribute to co-star Eric Dane, who tragically passed away on Thursday.
Several of the show’s stars took to social media to share loving tributes to the beloved actor, who played Nate Jacobs’ (Jacob Elordi) father Cal Jacobs on the hit HBO series.
Sydney Sweeney, who plays Cassie Howard on the series, posted a tribute to Dane on her Instagram Stories on Friday.
Sweeney reshared a clip of his heartbreaking final video message to his daughters Billie and Georgia in the Netflix series Famous Last Words. “I will love you forever,” she wrote above the clip, along with a red heart emoji.
Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat Hernandez, similarly reshared Dane’s “Famous Last Words” clip released after his death on her Instagram Stories on Friday.
The actress added a simple white heart emoji above the clip.
Meanwhile, show creator Sam Levinson said in a statement to Page Six that he was “heartbroken” over the loss of “our dear friend.”
“It was an honor to work with him. It was a gift to be his friend,” he continued. “My thoughts and prayers go out to Eric’s family. May his memory be a blessing.”
In a separate statement to Page Six, an HBO spokesperson added: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Eric Dane. He was incredibly talented and HBO was lucky to work with him on three seasons of Euphoria.” Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time. ”
Dane passed away on Thursday at the age of 53 after a battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
“He spent his final days surrounded by his beloved friends, his devoted wife (Rebecca Gayheart), and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia. They were the center of his world,” his family confirmed in a statement to People magazine.
“Throughout his battle with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same battle. He will be deeply missed and will always be remembered with love.”
The family said the “Grey’s Anatomy” alum “loved his fans” and was “forever grateful” for the love and support he has received over the years. They have asked for privacy during these “unlikely times.”
The ALS advocacy movement I AM ALS also released a statement following the sad news about Dane, who served as a “passionate champion, generous spirit and true champion of this movement.”
“Eric used his platform not for attention, but for action. From the moment he joined I Am ALS, he showed up with courage and conviction, asking how he could use his superpowers to help the movement grow,” the message read in part.
“(He) was not only a supporter of our mission, but a member of our family. His integrity, courage, and belief in a better future for those battling this diagnosis contributed to research funded, policy promoted, and community growth. His impact will live on.”
As Page Six previously reported, Dane revealed his ALS diagnosis on April 10, 2025. Just four days later, he returned to work and began filming “Euphoria” Season 3, which will premiere in April of this year.
“I feel fortunate to be able to continue working and look forward to returning to the set of ‘Euphoria,'” he said in a statement to People magazine. “Please allow my family and I some privacy during this time.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease) is a neurological disease that “affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord,” “causes loss of muscle control,” and “gets worse over time.” There is no cure.
