Ethan Hawk has been outspoken about his “humiliating” divorce from his ex-wife, Uma Thurman.
In his profile released Monday, the actor looked back at media coverage surrounding the 2004 split with GQ UK.
“Even when you’re saying something positive, it’s almost humiliating,” he told the outlet. He described it as “the result of (Hawk) chasing the film’s fascination” after meeting on the set of the 1997 film “Gattaka.”
When asked why the actors fell in love on set, the “Training Day” star replied, “There is a certain amount of intimacy in the work we do. There is an imaginative intimacy.”
The 54-year-old “Dead Poets Association” actor compared intimacy to spinning the bottle, adding, “It’s very expensive. I feel dangerous and thrilling.”
“It will raise the temperature of your life,” Hawk continued. “It’s like falling in love at summer camp. It has nothing to do with the dayliness of real life. That’s dangerous.”
A year after the meeting, Hawk and Thurman tied the knot. They went on to welcome two children: “Stranger Things” star Maya Hawk (now 27) and son Levon (23).
But by 2005, the “Kill Bill” actress had filed for divorce amid rumors that Hawk had been linked to their nanny, Ryan Shawhughes.
Despite denying the allegations, Hawk began dating Shawhughes shortly after their separation.
The couple married in 2008 and welcomed their daughter Clementine (now 17) and now 14-year-old Indiana.
Following their divorce, Thurman rejected Budmouth Hawk to the press, telling the parade in 2006 that he “can’t take part in anything important about the father of a child.”
“I just need to maintain peace,” the “Pulp Fiction” star told the outlets for each person. “I think it’s fair to say I’m not saying anything mean. I’m not going to start now. That’s awful for my family.”
After Hawk, Thurman moved to Arpad Busson, manager of the hedge fund.
The two got engaged in 2008 and welcomed their daughter Luna four years later. But they called it quits the relationship they were dealing with by 2014.
“Pulp Fiction” star 55 dated Bloomberg Media executive Justin B. Smith in 2021 and was rumored to be dating architect Peter Subbeth the following year.
