John Tesh says it’s a miracle he’s alive.
The “Entertainment Tonight” alum told Page Six in an exclusive interview that she was diagnosed with “a rare type of cancer” in 2015.
“I was given 18 months to live,” he said. “I mean, I’ve had a good fight against cancer, and I’m still fighting it. I’m in treatment on and off.”
The former TV personality explained that he has “a rare form of prostate cancer that has now metastasized.”
That means Tesch isn’t actually in remission, but rather “stable, which he admitted is scary.”
“They let the tumor grow for a little while,” he said. “Then you go back to treatment, back and forth. It’s called pulsation, and it’s scary until you get used to it because you’re like, ‘Why am I living with cancer?'”
Naturally, Tesch credits his doctors at Houston’s MD Anderson Cancer Center for extending his life, but he also credits his wife of 34 years, Connie Sellecka.
“If it wasn’t for my wife Connie, who has been my advocate for many years, I wouldn’t have said anything,” he revealed. “I would have been dead. I would have been dead in 2015.”
The co-host turned musician credits his faith with keeping him alive.
“In 2015, we discovered several Bible verses that directly relate to healing,” he revealed. “One of them is Mark 11:23, which I have tattooed on my arm because it’s an incredibly powerful quote.”
Meanwhile, Tesch, who quit his job as a TV host in 1996 to focus on music, remains busy performing and composing.
He recently performed the now-iconic NBA on NBC basketball theme “Round Ball Rock” at the All-Star Game.
In addition to music, Tesch also hosts the radio show “Intelligence for Your Life,” which is heard on 350 stations.
