This is not American Horror Story.
Eric Roberts has made it clear that he and his daughter Emma Roberts are not estranged.
On Sunday’s episode of “Very Famous with Kara Meyer Robinson,” he said their relationship “is only complicated through outside eyes…because they don’t understand any of it.”
“So they have their own interpretation of whatever it is,” added the 65-year-old author of “Trunway Train.”
Despite the rumors, he gushed that he was “so proud” of the American Horror Story actress, 35, whom he married ex Kelly Cunningham in 1991.
Nevertheless, Eric admitted that he could have been a better father throughout her childhood.
“I was like a rag. I shouldn’t have been relied on at all mentally,” confessed the actor, a self-proclaimed “car wreck,” adding, “I take the blame for that.”
During their roller-coaster relationship, Eric fondly reflected on how becoming a father changed his life.
He recalled being able to soothe newborn Emma by signing her “Happy Birthday.” Cunningham also sang this song while pregnant.
“She stopped crying and tried to look for my face with her little blind eyes,” he said. “That was probably the most perfect moment of my life so far. What I did was recognized by a brand new creature with my DNA. Oh my goodness. And she was there and she already knew me.”
“She tried to find me,” the “Dark Knight” actor continued. “It was magic and I will always have it with me.”
In October 2024, Eric was asked to reflect on the “saddest moment” of his life and confessed that it was the “loss of his relationship” with the “Scream Queens” actress.
Eric previously slammed Emma’s work in an interview with Page Six in February.
He explained that he is very proud of her “every day” and that one of her favorite movies is the 2023 romantic comedy “Maybe I Do.”
