Rebecca Gayhart shares the heartbreaking way her husband, Eric Dane’s fight with ALS, is affecting her daughter.
“I mean, that’s heartbreaking,” the Beverly Hills, 90210 alumni told people in comments released Saturday. “My girl is really struggling and we’re just trying to get through it. It’s a tough time.”
Billy, 15, and Georgia, 13, are “take it every day” as 52-year-old Dane faces a progressive neurodegenerative disease.
“We have a professional therapist who helps us. We are just trying to do it with hope, dignity, grace, and love,” Gayhart (54).
The “Countdown” actor revealed his diagnosis of ALS in April. “I was diagnosed with ALS,” he told people at the time. “As I navigate this next chapter, I am grateful that my beloved family is by my side.”
The “Euphoria” actor added, “During this time, my family and I will give us privacy.”
Gayhart, who filed for divorce from Dane in 2018, told the outlet that amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a “terrifying” condition just to stop the division in March.
“I don’t think I’m in a place where I can still pull out positive nuggets,” she told people in comments at the event Friday. “So we’re definitely dealing with what’s brought us together, and Eric will always be my family, whether we’re married or not or not.”
The model confessed that his family was “attending” due to a catastrophic diagnosis, but “doesn’t like the reason.”
“It was a horrible illness and I hope there was a cure,” she leaked. “It’s so sad, so I hope they find it soon.”
Dane’s representative did not immediately return a request for comment on Page 6.
The “Urban Legend” actress revealed her relationship with Dane, who was found to be out with Janel Shirtcliffe in April a few months after its release. “We are the best friends. We are really close. We are great co-parents,” she told E! News from that time.
In June, the two fathers sat with Diane Sawyer on an episode of “Good Morning America” to discuss how an untreated, aggressive condition affects him.
“I have one functional arm. My dominant side, my left side, is working,” he told the journalist. “My right side is completely stopped working,” Dane called his symptoms “satisfied.”
He said the illness defines his days now. “I will never forget these three letters,” he said. “It’s the second time I’ve woken up.”
The Gray Anatomy alumni reflected his wife’s statement regarding his relationship with Gay Heart, whom he married in 2004.
“I call Rebecca. I talk to her every day,” he said. “We managed to become better friends and better parents. She is probably my biggest champion and the most stubborn supporter, and I’m leaning on her.”
However, the actor confessed that he was angry for one reason. “I’m mad because there’s a very high chance that my girls will take me when they’re very young,” he said.
