Gabriel will be taking Emily to Greece in season 6 of Emily in Paris. Darren Star’s hit Netflix romantic comedy series began production in May and has previously been filmed in Rome, Venice, Saint-Tropez and Megève, with Greece and Monaco set as glamorous new locations for the series, which has toured the globe.
Ahead of the start of filming, the star will be attending PaleyFest LA on Friday, along with principal cast members Lily Collins, Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, Lucien Ravicount, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gooley and Andrew Fleming.
Emily in Paris is still going strong on Netflix. Season 5 debuted at No. 2 on the streamer’s Top 10 with 13.5 million views in the first four days, and maintained that spot the following week with 13.3 million views.
Plot details for Season 6 have been kept under wraps, but the Greek backdrop points to unfinished business between Emily (Collins) and her on-again, off-again lover Gabriel (Bravo). In the season 5 finale, Gabriel sent Emily a postcard inviting her to a trip to Greece, hinting at a possible rekindling.
“I can’t imagine the series without Gabriel,” the star told Variety at the season five premiere in Paris in December.
In Season 5, Emily fully embraces the Rome chapter as head of Agence Grateau Rome and dives into romance with Italian beauty Marcello, while Gabriel quits his restaurant job and takes a new chef job on a yacht.
The star said that Gabriel was Emily’s “big love” and that their scenes together in season 5 had “a bit of nostalgia…that speaks to the idea that the show has matured.” Starr, who was awarded the Legion of Honour by French President Emmanuel Macron in December, said the depth of their relationship stems from “memories and a past with both good and bad times.”
Season 5, he said, was also “more mature and more passionate” overall. One of the more surprising developments was that Mindy (Park) started dating Emily’s ex Alfie (Lavis Count).
Emily in Paris is created by Starr, who will executive produce alongside Tony Hernandez, Lily Burns, Andrew Fleming, Stephen Brown, Alison Brown, Robin Schiff, Grant Sloss and Joe Murphy. Collins also serves as producer. The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios, Darren Star Productions, and Jax Media.
