Darren Star has his sights set on Napa Valley.
Netflix announced Wednesday that Starr and David Schulner have set their romantic comedy series “Uncorked” on the streamer.
According to the official logline, the show “delves into the life of a talented but self-destructive winemaker who returns to Napa to find love, heritage, and the elusive 100-point wine. (Not always updating WineSpectator.com and the like) This woman’s greatest passion is also her fatal flaw, and her failures usually begin before lunch on a Tuesday.”
The series has kept her in business with Netflix, as the star is the creator of the streamer’s hit series “Emily in Paris,” which was recently renewed for a sixth season. Season 5 was in the top 10 English TV shows on Netflix for five weeks. The star is also known for creating hit shows such as “Beverly Hills 90210,” “Melrose Place,” “Sex and the City” and “Younger.”

Starr and Schulner are the writers, co-showrunners and executive producers of “Uncorked.” The Emily in Paris EP is executive produced by Tony Hernandez and Lily Burns under their Counterpart banner. The film will be produced by Universal Television, which has an overall agreement with both Starr and Schulner.
“Darren and I wanted to create a series that explores what happens when your greatest passion is also your Achilles heel,” Schulner said. “Set in the beauty and richness of Napa, we hope viewers will never want to leave. We would like to thank Netflix and Universal Television for allowing us to enjoy a day of heavy drinking in the name of thorough research.”
Mr. Schulner most recently produced NBC’s medical drama “New Amsterdam,” which aired for five seasons on the broadcast network. He is currently an executive producer on the FOX series “Memories of a Murderer” starring Patrick Dempsey, based on the Belgian film “De Zark Alzheimer”. Other works include “Emerald City,” “Kings” and “Desperate Housewives.”
