Elton John has confused fans after sharing photos of himself in a hospital bed to promote the release of a sequel to “Spinal Tap.”
In the carousel in the photo from the set of “Spinal Tap II: The End Soness,” the “Rocketman” hitmaker reclined in a hospital bed, wearing both legs and a neck brace.
The singer was surrounded by balloons, cards and flower arrangements, making the scenario look real. However, the Instagram upload shared on Friday also includes a photo of myself on the camera monitor.
Convinced he was actually injured, one fan commented, “I have a safe recovery ❤️❤️.”
Others advised the legendary rock stars to “get up quickly” and offered them their “love and prayer.”
However, some fans touched on the true nature of the post that 78-year-old John revealed in his caption.
“It shaked so violently… it turned into a cast! Behind the scenes on the spine faucet,” he wrote. “A new film, Spinal Tap II, and an album came out today, featuring me in ‘Listen to the Flower People’ and ‘Stonehenge’. Thank you for being a part of it! ”
“Elton don’t scare us like that,” one follower chimed, while another wrote, “I scared me a bit there. You’re fine!!!” Yet another comment was, “omg😳 This was scary!! There are no jokes!”
Some were caught from the beginning. One user wrote, “I love the taps on the spine!!! I can’t wait to see this.”
The sequel, “This Is a Spine Tap,” which does not feature John, has been dropped in 1984 for over 40 years.
The satirical follow-up follows the fictional band, reuniting after a 15-year break to perform their final show, with John contributing to two new songs in the film.
Along with John, Paul McCartney is one of the rock celebrities set to make a cameo in the much-anticipated sequel to the cult status film.
In an interview on July 6th, Reiner reflected on how the public first misunderstood the original film.
“People didn’t get it at all at first,” he told us at the time. “They thought it was a real documentary about a real band. People came to me after the first screening and said, ‘I don’t understand. Why make a movie about a band that no one has ever heard of?’
