Elle Fanning shares her relatable goals for 2026.
Fanning recently spoke exclusively to PEOPLE at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Film Awards in Palm Springs, California. In the conversation, the actress revealed what she wants to leave behind in 2025.
“I’m trying to be more present,” says Fanning, 27. “I think I’m a big dreamer and that’s a good thing, but sometimes I think too much about the future and it becomes a vicious cycle. So I have to live in the moment.”

The star, who won the festival’s International Star Award for her ensemble work in the film “Sentimental Value,” spoke about how it felt to be a part of a project that resonated with audiences.

“I feel like people are having a very emotional response to this movie,” she says. “I think it’s kind of universal…People were coming out of the theater and saying they hadn’t talked to their parents in a long time and after watching our movie, they finally got to talk to them. So that’s great.”
The film, which also stars Renate Rijnsve and Stellan Skarsgård, tells the story of a woman who is forced to reunite with her estranged father, a famous director, when he unexpectedly returns after her mother’s death.

Fanning also shared a glimpse of her role as Effie Trinket in the upcoming Hunger Games prequel film, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
“That world is so wonderful,” she tells people. “And I got a little taste of some good costumes…I have a lot of selfies on my phone.”
The Complete Unknown actress said being cast in the upcoming film is especially exciting given that she is a huge fan of the original film.

“I love Panem,” she says of the fictional world in which her books and films are set. “I mean, I’m a big fan of movies like the OG. Did you know? I love movies. Movies are so comforting to me. Airplane watches are so great…watch them back to back.”
