Elizabeth Hurley rummaged through her wardrobe this weekend and stepped out wearing a head-turning outfit.
The British actress and model, 60, shared a photo on Instagram of herself wearing the same plunging black Versace dress she first wore to the 1999 Met Gala, alongside a new snap from her trip to India.
The halter-neck number sparkled with a deep-V neckline, thigh-high slit and bejeweled embellishments in shades of pink and amber at the waist. For her 2026 encore, Harley accessorized with chandelier earrings, a pendant necklace, and a silver crystal bindi.
“Viva Versace!” the swimwear designer wrote. “For this weekend’s adventure in India, I dug into the archives and unearthed one of my favorite pieces, last worn at the Met Gala in 1999. It’s been 27 years, but some love never fades.”
Comments poured in from fans, with one writing, “What kind of elixir do you drink?” Others called her “Benjamina Button” and “the finest fine wine.” One commenter summed it up in two words: “aging in reverse.”
Her son Damien Hurley, 23, commented: “So crazy ❤️,” and Donatella Versace herself chimed in, writing: “😘💥✨” with three emojis.
The dress debuted at the 1999 Met Gala, where the “Rock Style” exhibition was held. That same night, Versace wore a plunging, tropical-print dress that would be seared into the cultural consciousness by Jennifer Lopez at the Grammy Awards a few months later, while Liv Tyler and Stella McCartney wore studded one-shoulder Rock Royalty T-shirts.
As Page Six Style previously noted, “Even in 1999, Elizabeth Hurley didn’t like plunging necklines and waist-high slits.”
Raiding the Versace archives has become something of a tradition for the “Austin Powers” alum. During quarantine in 2020, she wore the pink Versace chainmail dress she last wore at the 1999 CFDA Fashion Awards and told Harper’s Bazaar, “I immediately stored it in acid-free tissue paper and it’s still perfect!”
Her most famous Versace moment dates back to 1994. She wore a black Gianni Versace safety pin dress to the London premiere of her then-boyfriend Hugh Grant’s Four Weddings and a Funeral.
She admitted in 2019 that the original still fits, adding, “Just because it still fits doesn’t mean I’d wear it today. It’s not appropriate!”
Hurley’s weekend in India extended beyond the return of Versace. She celebrated Holi in Delhi with her son Damien, beauty entrepreneur Trinny Woodall and ex-husband Arun Nayyar, donning a traditional white kurta for the festival of colours.
