Ego Nwodim will leave Saturday Night Live after seven seasons as a cast member.
“The most difficult part of a great party is knowing when to say good night,” she wrote in her Instagram story. “However, after seven unforgettable seasons, I have decided to leave SNL. I am extremely grateful for my opportunity, the sparkle, support and friendship of my castmates, writers and crew.
Nwodim joined “SNL” prior to Season 44 in 2018, before being promoted to Season 46 repertoire cast in 2020. He also appeared in Peacock’s “Mr. Throwback” and appeared in films such as “Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile” and “Goodburger 2.” She will then star in the Netflix comedy film “The Brother,” across the street from John Cena, Eric Andre, Michelle Monaghan, Christopher Meloni, Ego Nwodim and Shelley Cora.
Unless additional cast members are added, the Nwodim exit means that Season 51 of “SNL” will be the first to cast Zero Black women since the casting of Sasheer Zamata in 2014. History took part in 2020 and set out in 2024.
News of Nwodim’s departure comes after a thorough reform in a late-night sketch show that was previously thought to have been concluded, but after the final announcement was made, the situation at Nwodim changed and diversity has learned that he chose to pursue other opportunities.
Devon Walker was the first cast member to announce his departure from “SNL” on August 25th, followed by Emile Wakim, Michael Longfellow and Heidi Gardner. Furthermore, don’t destroy members. Ben Marshall was promoted to feature cast, but Martin Helihee remained on the writing staff, while John Higgins left “SNL.” Other new cast members include Veronika Srowikowska, Jeremy Culhane, Kam Patterson and Tommy Brennan.
