My Lady Jane star Edward Bluemel will play the iconic role of detective Hercule Poirot in a new BBC and Britbox drama series.
The six-part series, titled “Hercule,” follows the Belgian detective made famous by Agatha Christie as he solves his first case in London and goes on to become the world’s most legendary detective.
Billed as “an intimate study of the man Hercule and an epic portrait of interwar England”, the show “takes a magnifying glass at three of Christie’s most famous stories, while also depicting Hercule’s budding friendship with Captain Arthur Hastings, his early encounter with Scotland Yard’s James Jupp, and his introduction to one particular nemesis”. Filming is scheduled to begin this summer in Liverpool, England.
“Hercule” is produced by Mammoth Screen and Agatha Christie Limited, part of ITV Studios, and was written by Benji Walters (“Code of Silence,” “The Leopard”). Johnny Campbell (“Am I Unreasonable?”, “Dracula”) will direct the first two episodes, and Charlie Palmer (“Women of Substance,” “Extraordinary”) will serve as series producer.

In addition to Pritchard, Walters and Campbell are also executive producers. Rebecca Durbin and Damien Timmer of Mammoth Screen. Nick Lambon is BB. BritBox’s Robert Schildhouse, John Farrar, and Steven Nye. The Fifth Season is in charge of worldwide distribution.
