Ed Sheeran has been friends with Taylor Swift for years, and the songwriter explained how he found out about her engagement to Travis Kelsey and shared an update on their current friendship.
In a new interview, Ed Sheeran provided an update on his longtime friendship with Elus Tour star Taylor Swift. In an interview with Access Hollywood, Sheeran explained where he stands following his engagement to Travis Kelsey.
“I’m not conscious of my relationship with her,” Sheeran said. “We’ve been friends for years now. We’re very close, and when we meet, we see each other, and when we meet again, we’re right back where we left off.”
He added: “The way I look at it, me and Taylor are lovers and I’m going to meet her. And I met her a week after[the engagement]happened, so I did that interview and then I saw her and you talking in person.”

When they finally met in person, he added, “We caught up for about four hours. It was more like, ‘I don’t know, you know what I mean?’ It was more like life.”
Sheeran intentionally stays away from social media and doesn’t usually carry his cell phone.
“I feel like I’m missing out on the real human connection, because I want to stay in touch with everyone,” he said, explaining his policy of doing things in person.
Because of that policy, he learned of Swift’s involvement with other people on the Internet. On Oct. 6, Swift appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and explained, “He doesn’t have a phone. That’s one of the things I love about him. He’s so eccentric. I love him. But when he’s struggling, like, ‘Hey, who should I call? Who should I FaceTime?'” As I read back through my text messages, I found myself thinking, ‘Who have I texted in the last few months of my life? ” I am thinking. ”
She added, “I have to text him, I have to FaceTime him, I have to find his iPad, I have to give it to him like a child. This person is one of my absolute favorite people on the planet. When this news came out, I was like, ‘I forgot to call Ed!'”
