As Dylan Efron’s journey through the ballroom on Dancing with the Stars continues, his real-life relationships are taking a bit of a hit.
The 33-year-old has been dating girlfriend Courtney King since high school, but as his life has changed over the last year between his win on The Traitors and his successful partnership with Daniela Karagach on this season’s DWTS, so has his relationship.
“I’d be lying if I said Dancing with the Stars wasn’t hard, but I think it’s harder for Kourtney than it is for me,” Efron admitted on the Oct. 13 episode of The Viall Files.
He said Courtney has to deal with things on her own, although he says her “head is a mess and her body hurts” considering she’s in the studio “five hours a day” and dealing with the fallout.
Efron also revealed that he is “currently living outside of Manhattan Beach, where his studio is,” as competition continues. “It’s tough right now,” he admitted of juggling relationships and social life.

But overall, he said, “I wouldn’t say much has changed” between the two as his fame has skyrocketed.
“What’s changed is we’ve started traveling more together. A lot of the trips we go on with the brand or whatever, I’m able to take her with me,” he told host Nick Viall. “I think our relationship has improved a lot by including her more in it.”
Efron also said that his girlfriend is “very supportive” and that their relationship is strong despite the new challenges that DWTS has introduced.
“She knows 100% that I love her. So it’s like we know it’s all temporary. So I don’t think anything has really changed,” he explained. “I know it’s hard for us right now, but we’re still here. We still love each other and yeah, we’re in a great place.”

During a previous appearance on The Viall Files, Efron explained that Kourtney “doesn’t really like being on camera,” but that having such different careers “works out really well.”
“She doesn’t really use social media and works 40 hours a week, so that’s great,” he said. “It’s not like we’re hiding her from the world. She knows about the job and everything.”
