Duchess Meghan has opened up about her marriage to Prince Harry and their family life. In a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Meghan revealed what drew her to Prince Harry and how he has supported her career evolution. She also reflected on motherhood and how she hopes to inspire her children Archie and Lilibet.
Meghan Markle has given a rare glimpse into her life with Prince Harry and their children, six-year-old Archie and four-year-old Lilibet. On Wednesday, Harper’s Bazaar published a new cover story featuring the Duchess of Sussex, in which she opened up about her family life, personal growth, and approach to entrepreneurship.
Meghan spoke about her relationship with Prince Harry, whom she married on May 19, 2018, and how her husband keeps her grounded. “He loves me so boldly and with all his might. He also sees different media than I do, so he has a different perspective,” she said. “I know he will always support me because there is no one in the world who loves me more than him.”
She described Harry as someone with “a childlike sense of wonder and playfulness”, adding: “I’m really drawn to that and he brings that out in me. It’s reflected in every part of our lives. Even in business, we want people to play and have fun and explore and be creative.”
In recent months, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have continued to support each other and develop their respective careers. After Meghan made her front-row debut at Paris Fashion Week in October, a source told Us Weekly that “it’s healthy for them to have separate spheres, identities and passion projects as a couple,” adding: “They’re going to be quite divided[professionally]from now on.” Another source said Prince Harry has her full support, adding: “He always thinks she’s doing the right thing.”
In a feature for Harper’s Bazaar, Meghan also talked about how she raises her children, especially during their formative years. “I’m a mom with kids at an age where I’m always learning new things,” she told the magazine. “Every day I see them face things that feel completely insurmountable, but I can remember and say, ‘I know it’s really hard right now, but trust me, it’s going to get easier soon.'”
She shows the same kind of patience with herself when she launches As Ever, a lifestyle brand that sells home and kitchen products such as candles, jams and honey. “I can give myself the same blessings as our founders. Nothing is perfect and I make mistakes too,” Meghan said.
She went on to share how she balances her career and personal life. “My office is right off the kitchen and I love being able to work from home. It’s such a luxury,” she said. She added that she wants to inspire children to pursue their passions, saying, “I want them to understand the value of being courageous. They understood that when the jam was bubbling in the pot on the stove. I think when you’re young, you’re a little more fearless. As we get older, we lose some of that.”
Meghan’s recent comments tie in with a heartfelt Mother’s Day message she wrote to her children in May. “Cheers to all the fun and juggling it all!” she captioned an Instagram photo of her holding Archie and Lilibet. “And to these two gems who still try to climb ‘Mommy Mountain’, smother me with kisses, and make every day the most memorable adventure… Being your mom is the greatest privilege of my life ❤️ I too, ‘I love you more than every star in the sky, every raindrop, and all the salt on every french fry in the world.'”
