Dua Lipa’s fiance Callum Turner has detailed their “crazy” encounter.
The 35-year-old actor told The Sunday Times they met over drinks in Los Angeles before a mutual friend’s birthday, and gushed that their connection was instantaneous.
“We sat next to each other and realized we were reading the same book, which is crazy,” Turner explained. “It’s called ‘Trust’ (written by Hernán Díaz).”
“I just finished the first chapter,” he told Ripa, 30.
“She looked at me and said, ‘I just finished the first chapter, too,'” he recalled, adding that she cheekily replied, “So we’re on the same page.”
He smiled and admitted that in the “movie version” of the key moment, he “looked up at the sky” and said, “I hear you. I understand. The presence is loud, don’t worry.”
In January 2024, Page Six revealed that Turner and Ripa were dating after they were spotted dancing the night away at an afterparty for the Masters of Air premiere in Los Angeles.
At the time, a source said they were “angry with each other” even though their relationship was just beginning.
Three months later, the pair were photographed showing off their PDA in New York City.
By December, the two were reportedly engaged.
“Dua and Callum are very much in love and know this is forever. They are engaged and couldn’t be happier,” a source told The Sun at the time.
“Dua had the best year of her professional career and this is the best result.”
The source added: “Callum is very supportive of Dua and they make a great couple. Their family and friends are also very happy. It’s been a great Christmas for them both.”
Ripa confirmed the engagement in an April interview with British Vogue published in June.
“This decision to grow old together, look at life together, and just be best friends forever is a really special feeling,” she exclaimed at the time.
Considering the duo’s busy work schedules, the singer said they were in no rush to walk down the aisle.
In fact, she said she wants to finish her “Radical Optimism” tour, which ends in December, before she starts planning her wedding.
“We’re just enjoying this time of year,” she said, adding that she and Turner would like to start a family “someday.”
