The critically acclaimed drama “The Salt Path,” starring Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs, will be released theatrically in the United States and Canada through Rialto Distribution International.
The film was a box office success in Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom, grossing over $15 million. Anderson and Isaacs play a couple who hit rock bottom, losing their home and battling a serious diagnosis. Left with no choice, they embark on an extraordinary 1,000km walk along the trails along England’s rugged south-west coast. According to the synopsis, the film is a “deeply moving journey of love, resilience, rediscovery, and the enduring strength of human connection.”
Rialto has set a May 22 release date for the film, which marks veteran theater director Marianne Elliott’s feature film debut. The distributor recently released “Tiner,” which became the most successful New Zealand-made film in the United States since “The Wilderness.”
Producers Elisabeth Carlsen and Stephen Woolley said: “Working with Marianne on her first feature was a rare opportunity to bring an intimate and deeply emotional story to the screen.” “The tenderness and depth of this film make it stand out in today’s film industry, and we are thrilled that Rialto can bring it to audiences in the United States and Canada.”
“This is a movie of quiet power,” added Rialto CEO Kelly Rogers. “This film speaks to deep human things, including love, perseverance, and the idea that it’s never too late to start again. We’re excited to share this great screen production with audiences in the U.S. and Canada and believe it will leave a lasting impression.”
Rocket Science negotiated the contract on behalf of the filmmakers. Watch the first trailer for “The Salt Path” above.
