Dolly Parton has set a health record after her sister Frieda asked fans to “pray” for the country star.
“I’m not dead yet!” the 79-year-old singer captioned a new video shared via X Wednesday.
In the video, Parton explained that she wanted to address her medical issues head-on because “everyone thinks they’re sicker than I am.”
“Do I look bad to you? I work hard here,” she said. “I just wanted to put your minds at ease. I know you were really concerned and I appreciate it. Thank you for your prayers.”
“I’m a person of faith. I can always use prayer for anything. But I want you to know that I’m okay. Like I said, I have some issues,” she continued.
“When my husband Carl (Thomas Dean) was seriously ill, it went on for a long time. And when he passed away, I didn’t take care of myself. So I let go of a lot of things that I should have taken care of.”
Parton went on to say that some of her health concerns stemmed from her decision to finally address her issues. But she insists the problem is “no big deal.”
Parton’s update comes after her sister shared on Facebook that she had been “pulling all night long” for the nation’s icon.
“Many of you know that she hasn’t been at her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I’ve started asking everyone who loves her around the world to be prayer warriors and pray with me,” Frieda wrote.
“She’s strong and she’s loved. I know in my heart she’s going to be okay because every prayer is being said for her. Oh my god, sissy Dolly. We all love you!”
As Page Six reported last month, Parton postponed her stay in Las Vegas until September 2026 after doctors told her she would need to undergo “several surgeries.”
“I want my fans and the public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I have to postpone my upcoming concert in Las Vegas. As you know, I am dealing with some health issues and doctors have told me that some procedures are necessary,” she explained in a statement at the time.
“I joked with them, but it must be time for a 100,000-mile checkup, even though it’s not my usual time to go see a plastic surgeon! In all seriousness, given the circumstances, I can’t rehearse and put together the show I want you to see, and the show you deserve to see.”
In June, Parton assured fans that she wasn’t “quitting the business” yet and just wanted to take a break from music following the heartbreaking death of her husband in March.
The country star also canceled an appearance at the Dollywood theme park on Sept. 17 as he was recovering from a kidney stone that developed into an infection.
“The doctor said, ‘You don’t need to travel for now, it will take a few days to recover,'” she said in a video explaining her absence. “So he suggested we not go to Dollywood today.”
