For the occasion, she wore a custom orange and purple Roberto Cavalli dress with a plunging neckline and beaded ruffle train. On the red carpet, Doechii said she drew inspiration from some of the brand’s designs from 1996 to 2001. “We wanted to do something that felt fresh, new, rustic and grounded.” “I’m in a different brain. I’m releasing a new album and I just want a visual representation of how I feel right now as a woman.” She accessorized with stilettos and chunky bangles, and wore her natural hair in a messy updo.
She elaborated on her “different head space,” adding, “I just bought my first home, so my priorities are a little bit different now. I’m focused on my home life. I’m focused on my beauty. I’m focused on my femininity. Just all these fabrics, beads, natural hair… I think it all comes back to me, and I love it.”
Once inside, she and Queen Latifah presented Best Rap Album to Kendrick Lamar. She switched up her outfit, opting for a bold jeweled top and a voluminous ruby long skirt.
Doechii received five nominations for his song “Anxiety.” Earlier in the night, she won Best Music Video and was also nominated for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance. At the ceremony, she will be competing for Record of the Year and Song of the Year with “Anxiety.” She is scheduled to speak again tonight.
In a May 2025 interview with ELLE, Doechii reflected on the boundary-pushing approach that has come to define both her music and visual identity. “I get angry when people tell me I can’t do something or put limits on me,” she says. “I’ve always wanted to take things a little further,” she adds of how that mindset is reflected in her work. “I want to see everything possible. I want to see my dreams and reality come true. And I think that has always been my motto throughout my art. Anything is possible and you can create anything.”
The same intention carries over to the way she expresses herself in public. Over the past year, Doechii has used fashion as an extension of her creativity, favoring structured silhouettes, playful tailoring, and unexpected styling choices that reflect her musical sense of experimentation.
