Dick Van Dyke thinks it’s humorous to die shyly to change 100.
While discussing his upcoming triple digit birthday, the actor reportedly said during the weekend event, “Yes. I’m not officially 100 until December (13). Two months. Two months.”
People said he added, “It would be interesting if I didn’t make it.”
Van Dyke was joined by his wife, Arlene Silver, at the Bundy High Tea event in Malibu, California.
The “Dick Van Dyke Show” star recalls the milestone of reaching 100 and admits he doesn’t know what he’s done to achieve it.
“I sometimes boast about how I made it to 100. The truth is, if I had known I would live this long, I would have taken better care of myself,” he confessed.
“And it’s frustrating because I don’t know what I did. Apart from her (silver), I didn’t do anything right.”
Van Dyke, who married 54-year-old Silver in 2012, says he’s still hitting the gym.
“When I filmed an episode of men’s health, I went to the gym and I work on all the machines, who should be there and who should be there,” Rick Springfield posted on Instagram last month with a photo of the machine’s Van Dyke.
The musician said, “I thought I was doing well at the 76, but Dick got up from the chest press machine and did a bit of a dance step before leaving!
Van Dyke has previously spoken about his commitment to working out.
“I’ve always worked out – 3 days a week” and “Mary Poppins” stars explained in a January episode of the “Everyone Knows Your Name” podcast.
“I’ll get off and do a lot of stretching and yoga,” he added. He uses a training machine to sweat all over his body.
Van Dyke recently admitted that his long life was “good” to him, but he pointed out that it comes with the “curse” of “losing many friends.”
