After denounced the comedy series as “Toxic,” Devon Walker became frank about why he went ahead from his role in “Saturday Night Live.”
“Frankly, I decided that the best way to put it was for me and the show to see each other and we were going another way,” the comedian told Rolling Stone in an interview published Saturday.
“I think I felt ready to leave the show and the show felt ready to leave,” he added, explaining that appearing on the show since 2022 was a “commitment of life.”
“I was just ready to do something else,” continued Walker, 34. “It felt like it was time for both of us.”
The TV personality shared that there are “many of life” that she had to miss out on to film “SNL” and said, “I felt ready to do another version of my life.
“I think both me and the show are ready to turn the page.”
Last week, Walker announced that he was departing from “SNL” in a typed statement shared on Instagram.
“To me, work in this industry feels like a small bunch of marriages,” he wrote.
“Some of the EMs that last for a long time if we’re lucky will last for a long time, but most of them are fleeting, and they’re permanent until they aren’t.”
“We did the show together for three years and it was really cool at times,” he added.
“Sometimes it was toxic like hell, but we… made the most of what it was, even amid all the dysfunction.
Walker shared the message along with the other photos, captioning, “Me and the baby have broken up.”
The actor is one of the “SNL” cast members who will leave ahead of Season 51, which will premiere in October.
Other well-known comedians who won’t return are Heidi Gardner, Michael Longfellow and Emil Wakim.
The shakeup comes after “SNL” headphone Cholone Michaels chatted with Pack News earlier this month, suggesting there will be a major change in the cast next season.
