Demi Moore is sharing rare details about her early days with Bruce Willis.
While speaking with Kate Hudson during a Q&A at a special screening of Hudson’s latest film Son Saint Bleu at Soho House in Los Angeles on Wednesday, January 7, the Substance star revealed how special the film holds a special place in her heart.
“This is a little personal, but Bruce always had Neil Diamond Day every week,” Moore, who was married to the actor, 70, from 1987 to 2000, told Hudson, 46.

The former couple have three daughters, Rumer, 37, Scout, 34, and Talulah, 31.
Diamond released the song “Song San Bleu” in 1972, which is the basis for the film’s title. Hudson co-stars with Hugh Jackman as Mike and Claire Sardina, a real-life couple who formed the Neil Diamond cover band Lightning and Thunder.
“As I watched the movie, I kept remembering when he would taunt Neil Diamond and say, ‘What’s going on?'” Moore recalled of Willis, adding: “And he said, ‘No, it’s Neil Diamond Day.'”
According to the Daily Mail, she recalled that Willis “played Neil all day long. He did that for years. He was a huge Neil fan, and so am I!”
“And I thought, like you said, the generosity of this movie, and your performance, Hugh’s generosity, and the kids were extraordinary,” the Striptease star continued.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Al Pacino, Mark Ruffalo and director David O’Russell also attended Wednesday’s private event.
As for Moore and Willis, the former couple have remained close friends for years.

“I still love Demi. We are very close. We have three children that we will continue to raise together, and we are probably as close as ever. We recognize that we have a lifelong commitment to our children. Our friendship continues. We have put institutions aside,” Willis, who married his wife Emma Heming Willis in 2009, told Rolling Stone in December 2000.
Moore attended the wedding with her then-husband Ashton Kutcher.
“We’ve become like a tribe,” the Sixth Sense star told W Magazine in June 2009 after marrying Hemming Willis. She and Willis have two daughters.

In September 2025, the mother-of-two spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about her and Willis’ love story and how it started when she accompanied Willis, his ex-wife, and their children on a vacation to the Turks and Caicos Islands in 2007.
“We got to see a different side of Bruce, who was very family-oriented,” Willis told PEOPLE. “I really fell in love with him on that trip. That was the beginning of our love story.”
