Demi Lovato’s ex-fiancé, actor Max Ehrich, has reportedly been arrested in Florida on suspicion of domestic violence.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ on Wednesday that Ehrich, who was briefly engaged to the “Cool for the Summer” songstress in 2020, was taken into custody Tuesday night on suspicion of assault on a person over the age of 65.
The newspaper said the charges involve family members. A source tells TMZ that the “Young and the Restless” alum was released from jail on Wednesday after posting $1,000 bail.
According to the outlet, the actor live-streamed multiple times on social media on Tuesday with his mother in the room, but it is unclear who was involved in the incident.
Ehrlich’s social media accounts included numerous screenshots of text messages that appeared to be from an iPhone’s Notes app that were shared on Tuesday. Multiple uploads claimed Ehrich was “single,” while another read, “My heart is broken :(”
A third wrote: “Being a method actor is great, but a little trippy haha. I went to bed today and finally felt like I was almost out of character for the movie I just finished.” Ehrlich’s IMDb account lists his latest film, which is still in post-production, as “Reckless.”
Mr. Ehrlich’s legal representatives did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment Wednesday night, and attempts to reach Mr. Ehrlich directly for comment were unsuccessful.
Ehrich and Lovato, 33, were first rumored to be dating in the spring of 2020 after a series of flirty interactions on Instagram. In March 2020, Us Weekly reported that the pair was officially an item.
The former couple announced their engagement via social media in July 2020, with the hitmaker beaming that she was “honoured” to accept the proposal.
“I love you forever, my baby, my partner,” she captioned some of their engagement photos on the beach. “This is our future!!!”
Erich uploaded the engagement photo himself. “You are every love song, every movie, every lyric, every poem, everything I could have dreamed of, and also my life partner,” he wrote in a since-deleted post.
In September 2020, a source confirmed to Page Six that the two had called off their engagement. After the breakup, Ehrich posted a set of cryptic slides to his Instagram Stories, captured by the Twitter account #onlyforeverddl.
In screenshots that have since been deleted, Ehrlich wrote a note that read “#FreeDemi,” followed by “#FreeDemetria,” and a third note that read, “Free #FreeDemetria from those who have abused her.”
The “Heart Attack” songstress then ultimately married musician Jute in a romantic California wedding in May.
