‘Deli Boys’ season 2 release date decided, 4 new members added to cast

‘Deli Boys’ has a season 2 premiere date set, and the show will also be adding cast members.

Season 2 of the Onyx Collective series will debut on Hulu on May 28th. Andrew Rannells (Girls, Black Monday) and Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley, Welcome to Chippendales) will guest star, as will Lily Singh (The Muppet Mayhem, Dollface) and Robin Seeds (A Black Lady Sketch Show, The Rundown with). Robin Seed’ will make a guest appearance. Tan France also returns as Zubair, a British Pakistani gangster who first appeared in season one.

The new cast members will join returning stars Asif Ali, Sagar Shaikh and Poorna Jagannathan. As previously reported, Fred Armisen will play a major role in season 2 as casino magnate Max Sugar.

Full descriptions of the newly added characters can be found below.

The official logline for season 2 reads:

“Inheriting a criminal empire turns out to be easy…and more money really does mean more trouble. In this season of ‘The Deli Boys,’ the Darr family is drowning in dirty cash and some of Philadelphia’s most vile villains are on the prowl. Enter Max Sugar (Armisen), a casino tycoon, money launderer, and rapper. Kee (Jagannathan)’s new lover turns Laundering into a chaotic situation, Raj (Shaikh) plots revenge against Ahmad, Mir (Ali) tries to expand Darko without blowing it up, and Philadelphia Congressman Andrew Chadwater (Runnels) hopes one big mistake will make him mayor.

The series was created by Abdullah Saeed and developed by Jenni Konner and Nora Silver under Jenni Konner Productions. Michelle Nader will serve as showrunner and executive producer along with Syed, Connor, and Silver. The series is produced by Onyx Collective and produced by 20th Television.

Mr. Runnels is repped by UTA, Rise Management and Hansen Jacobsen Teller. Nanjiani is repped by UTA, Mosaic, and Shrek Rose. Mr. Singh is repped by 03 Media, UTA and Hansen Jacobson Teller. Thede is represented by WME and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole LLP.

Character description:

Andrew Rannells will reprise his role as Andrew Chadwater, a district attorney with political ambitions to become mayor.

Kumail Nanjiani will reprise his role as Danial, a defense attorney hired by Max Sugar (Armisen).

Singh will guest star as Ayesha, the wife of Malik Ali (Shahjehan Khan), who is obsessed with Raj (Shaikh).

Thede guest stars as Dr. Iverson, a couples therapist with questionable ethics.
