Dax Shepard encouraged Marcello Hernandez to date Sabrina Carpenter despite his long-term relationship with the comedian.
During an appearance on the “CHiPs” alum’s podcast “Armchair Expert” on Monday, Shepherd seemed overly concerned about whether Hernandez was dating the pop star.
Shepard, 51, admitted she had a newfound “infatuation” with Carpenter, 26, because her daughter was a fan.
The podcast host then pointed out that Ms. Hernandez, 28, and Ms. Carpenter have appeared together twice on “Saturday Night Live” and that Mr. Carpenter was “arrested” at one of her concerts last year.
“If I were you again and I was 28 years old, I would do everything in my power to date her. Aren’t you trying to marry her?” Shepherd asked Hernandez.
Mr. Hernández calmly silenced Mr. Shepard by bragging about his girlfriend, Ana Amelia Batre Cabral.
“I’m in a relationship,” the comedian said. “Yeah, I’m dating a Dominican girl. She’s an architect, she’s unrealistic, and she went to Yale.”
Hernandez and Cabral have been dating since at least January 2025 and made their red carpet debut at the premiere of Happy Gilmore 2 in New York last July.
Even though there was no romantic relationship between Karpetner and Hernandez, he gushed about how great the singer was.
“Sabrina is amazing and really funny and cool,” he said.
Several fans took to social media to share their thoughts on Shepard trying to play matchmaker.
One user tweeted: “Marcello had to shut him down multiple times for mentioning his girlfriend. It’s a bad look for a married man to be so obsessed with a pop star’s love life.”
“Dax Shepard is really creepy. You have a daughter and a wife and you’re like, ‘If it were me, I’d try to date her,’ and they’ll never make me like that family,” another added.
Another source said of Shepard’s wife Kristen Bell’s “tone-deaf” anniversary post to him, “Dax Shepard is a bigger loser than Kristen’s anniversary post.”
Meanwhile, Carpenter was most recently romantically involved with Barry Keoghan. The “Please Please Please Please” songstress and “Saltburn” actor, 33, were in a relationship from 2023 to 2024.
