No one wants this.
According to People magazine, Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell are intentionally raising their two daughters in a “disrespectful” way, the Armchair Expert host revealed on a recent episode.
The 50-year-old actor admitted to listeners that one of his close friends was “shocked” by how his sons Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 10, were allowed to “talk back” to their parents, or “everybody.”
A friend of the alumnus who “got a flat tire” said, “Yeah, your kids are going to break it up.”
Shepard called her friend “absolutely right,” agreeing, “They don’t seem to have any respect…and feel a little entitled.”
“They talk back, but they’re not respectful. I can understand that it seems completely out of hand,” he explained.
But the “Parenthood” alum said, “My priority is… when they’re 19 years old and their boss is being mean, I want them to talk back. I want them to be disrespectful. I want them to always stand up for themselves, whether I think they’re right or wrong.”
Ms Shepard insisted she was “going to deal with” the girls’ behavior, which her friend considered “embarrassing”.
“That’s okay because as a woman I want different things from them,” Shepard said.
He and Bell, 45, welcomed Lincoln and Delta in 2013 and 2014, respectively.
The couple, who married in October 2013, have been at the center of controversy over their parenting decisions over the years, including letting their young children drink non-alcoholic beer and wander around amusement parks alone for hours.
Shepard recently said her children can swear at her parents’ house “when they need to.”
But it was his marriage to Bell that made headlines last month when he wished his partner a happy anniversary.
“Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me, ‘I will never kill you. Many men have killed their wives at some point. Even if I had a strong motive to kill you, I would never,'” the “Veronica Mars” alum captioned a PDA photo via Instagram in October.
The tribute was slammed by social media users as a “tone-deaf” post and labeled a “dumb” joke by the National Network to End Domestic Violence, but Bell has reportedly refused to apologize.
The Golden Globe nominee reportedly “doesn’t want to be told how to live her life or be bullied.”
